Comval mining firm supports Brigada Eskwela

Pantukan, COMVAL - The bayanihan spirit here continues with different sectors of the community joining the annual school cleaning and repair program Brigada Eskwela 2014 (National Maintenance Week), in preparation for the opening of the school year 2014-2015.

And among those who constantly join and support Brigada Eskwela is King-king Copper-Gold Project that has expressed its commitment in the growth and development of the community through education and encourages Pantukan's growth by helping the young generation have a brighter future.

KCGP is a partnership between Nationwide Development Corporation (Nadecor) and St. Augustine Gold & Copper Ltd. (SAGCL) wherein the two companies are working together to develop the world class project while partnering with the community to meet the needs of Pantukan.

Brigada Eskwela is pursuant to DepEd memorandum no. 84 series of 2011, the school maintenance program engages all education stakeholders to contribute time, effort and resources in ensuring that public school facilities are set in time for the school opening.

It started on Monday, May 19 and will end on Saturday, May 24. The activities include repair of classrooms and fixtures, painting of walls, lawn mowing and clearing of clutters inside school campuses.

Teachers, students, parents, the police and armies, and other stakeholders also joined the week-long activity. Judi P. Noces, school principal of Magnaga Elementary School and OIC District Supervisor, expressed her thanks to all who helped the school for the preparation of the opening of classes come June 2.

The local government through the office of the mayor also extended their support. Mayor Roberto Yugo mobilized his department heads to ascertain the needs of each school.

Meanwhile, the King-king Copper-Gold Project (KCGP) also donated gallons of paints to different schools for the beautification of classrooms.

Aside from joining Brigada Eskwela, KCGP also offers scholarship program to deserving IP students who were given the opportunity to take up tertiary education. More than 30 scholars are currently benefiting from the said grant.

KCGP also built the only Alternative Learning System (ALS) classroom and GSP & BSP building, both of which are constructed inside the Kingking Central Elementary School campus, notwithstanding other numerous donations and assistance extended to schools since the project started exploration 3 years ago.

Aside from scholarships, housing allowances are also provided to the young members of the Mansaka tribe and the Pantukan community so they would be able to attend college or vocational school.

KCGP is committed to long-term educational enhancement with the management's desire that the students of the impact communities will one day become future employees of KCGP.
